The ethos of the desert is present in my work.
A totem is a symbol for a sacred object.
A sensual light interupts the invasion of the dark. Sharp edges illuminate and define the darkness. The “other world” color has a light spectrum that engages the darkness, allowing the light to hover in silence.
Desert Spirituality I am fascinated by religions, especially Native American religion and culture. Shamans and healers, speak about the meaning of engagements with the animal spirits. The spiritual nature of the desert is found in the land, water, and atmosphere. During my time in the studio, I work to create that spiritual nature in my work. An example is in a new assemblage of organic and geometrical forms cast with rare earth minerals. Light and color are embedded within each layer….
