Description
MetalPrints represent a new art medium for preserving photos by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image is infused into the surface and not on it, your images will take on an almost magical luminescence. The ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface is waterproof/weatherproof and can be cleaned easily – avoid direct sunlight
The “Jesus Movement” became a spiritual revival in North America and Europe in the “70s and “80s. It is an example of a mass encounter with God- a Theophany. The “Invisible God” was made visible.
Music became a major influence in the movement, a whole new genre of music played at outdoor festivals, churches, and communes. The Beatles captured culture’s imagination and introduced Eastern religions’ mysticism to the public. “Tune in, Turn on, and Drop Out” was the era’s mantra”.
Charismatic church leaders emerged from the West Coast. Some took on the mantle from the “Signs and Wonders” movement coming from the Pentecostal churches. Suddenly the church’s pews were filled with hippies. The free-wheeling, boundary-pushing culture of the late-’60s and ’70s California influenced the spirituality of the west coast churches.
The “dream-like” mood of the pieces is created through a series of filters, altogether unique to the creation of the work. As a result, AI has become an experimental media, allowing me to aggregate algorithms to “learn” a specific aesthetic by analyzing thousands of images. The algorithm then tries to generate new images in adherence to its learned aesthetics.
Each piece is printed on aluminum sheets with a glossy or satin finish and, for the most part, ready to hang. We suggest a size of 20″ x 32″ or 10″x 16″ for this series, but other sizes, larger or smaller, are available. The colors are vibrant, depicting the psychedelic influence on the culture. The fashion was exuberant as the drug experiments—limited editions. Using Rare-Earth minerals in my work allows me to create the palette of color used in my sculptures. Many describe the light as
bioluminescent-like. https://larryjortega.com/?s=rare+earth+minerals
Inspiration for my color palette comes from the panoramic desert sunsets viewed from the studio. Pinks, blues, oranges, purples, yellow, greens, and white are created to be visible at night with the naked eye. “Following light in the desert wilderness is a theme deeply embedded in my consciousness, and follows the ethos of the desert”.
