Cicada: Songs in the Desert

Description

Finding the whole body and wings of a Cicada was a lucky encounter. Lucky for me, it was a gift from a friend. I usually find their brown skeletons on a tree in late summer. Summer days are filled with the sound of Cicadas in the canyon. The sound echoes and bounces off the canyon walls and the jagged rocks.

The Cicada sits atop a blue and violet moon encased under multiple layers of crystal clear resin. The light of a  small spotlight hanging directly above the work shows the fantastic details of this enchanting desert creature.

The mixed media is a one-of-a-kind piece.
