I explore art and the creative process through a spiritual lens, weaving together insights from the studio and the marketplace. Decades in commercial real estate and business strategy inform my perspective, revealing how creativity thrives where vision meets discipline. In my world, art is more than expression—it’s a vocation, livelihood, and a quiet passageway to the sacred. If you see creativity not just as craft but as a calling, you’ll feel at home here.
Welcome to Obliq Art: The Journey

I’m Larry Ortega—artist, storyteller, and what I like to call a Spiritual Cartographer. My work lives at the intersection of light, landscape, and the unseen. I sculpt botanical forms out of resin and rare earth minerals, create digital works infused with desert skies and mountain storms, and write reflections that trace both the physical and spiritual terrain of my life.
This Substack is where I bring it all together:
- Art — my own creations, and the work of fellow artists I admire.
- Stories — essays and reflections drawn from decades in art, business, and faith.
- Journeys — dispatches from the desert canyons of Phoenix to the mountain air of Prescott, each chapter adding new perspective to my creative path.
If you’re a collector, a fellow creative, or simply someone seeking inspiration, you’ll find here a blend of imagery, narrative, and spiritual reflection meant to illuminate the way forward.
Think of this space as both studio and map—a place to see where light bends, where stories take root, and where journeys unfold.
“Join the Journey”
If this resonates, I invite you to walk with me. Each post explores the creative life—part studio, part field notes, part spiritual compass.
