Chapter 1:
The Meeting of Hearts
In the bustling art scene of the late 60s and early 70s in California, two artists, Larry and Sandra, were drawn to each other’s creativity and passion. They were young, filled with dreams and aspirations, and shared a deep love for the arts and creative lifestyle. As their relationship blossomed, they realized they were meant to create art and a life together; as a result, art and love fueled a blossoming story of love and art. An artist’s journey became the story of two lives living in love.

Chapter 2:
Paradise Explored
Larry and Sandra left California to continue their artistic journey. So they moved to Hawaii for inspiration and a deeper connection with nature and themselves. During this time, the islands’ breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and close-knit communities offered the perfect haven for their artistic souls to flourish. The island lifestyle, surfing, sailing, and fishing were ideal elements for hearts filled with hope, and they embarked on a new chapter in their lives.
Larry and Sandra continued to pursue their professional artistic endeavors in Hawaii. Larry’s paintings captured the ethereal beauty of the islands, while Sandra’s images captured a young family growing up. Their art studio in Honolulu was a perfect place to create art using silk screening and airbrushing as media on glass, wood, and clothing. Their island-style artistry transcended mere aesthetics, becoming an iconic brand that resonates with the vibrant spirit of Hawaii.

Chapter 3:
Forty-Four Years of Love and Growth
“The search for something intimate in the remote; that is what draws us into the desert.” Above all, the desert became home for the next four decades; Larry and Sandra built a family and nurtured a community of artists and creatives. As a result, they became pillars of support, encouraging, and mentoring young talents. Their shared love for art became a binding force, weaving through generations and creating a legacy of creativity and passion.

Chapter 4:
The Family
Larry and Sandra’s love story extended beyond their immediate family. Their children and grandchildren embraced the artistic spirit passed down through the generations. From talented musicians and dancers to budding photographers and writers, the family thrived on creativity. The beauty surrounding them influenced their intimacy with their family and friends. Difficulties became opportunities in the artist’s journey.

Chapter 5:
A Love That Endures
The love story of Larry and Sandra is a testament to the power of love and the impact of art on our lives. Their journey from California to Hawaii to Arizona symbolizes their willingness to follow their dreams, embrace new horizons, and create a life filled with passion and purpose. As their family grows and flourishes, they exemplify love’s enduring nature, inspiring others to chase their dreams and create unique love stories.

Chapter 6:
Spiritual Journey
Larry’s spiritual journey reflects the human quest for truth and meaning. Born a Jew, raised a Catholic, and drawn into the New Age movement, Larry’s path eventually led him to a profound encounter with Jesus Christ. Through his journey, Larry discovered that faith is not confined to a specific label or tradition but lies in God’s unwavering love and grace. Larry’s story reminds us that our spiritual makeup is ever-evolving, shaped by the diverse experiences that lead us to deeper understanding and a closer relationship with the divine.
I experience the world created by the Creator. My mission as an artist is to depict the sacred mysteries of God. The desert has nurtured our calling as artists. When I am exploring, identifying, and integrating spiritual thoughts, I am in my calling for God’s mission.

The story explores the extraordinary journey of two artists who fell in love, ventured to Hawaii and Arizona raised a family that cherishes art and creativity. Larry and Sandra prove that love and art are inseparable. They discovered the power to transform lives and leave a lasting legacy. Their art continues to inspire us to follow our passions and nurture the love that resides within us.

Sandra and Larry have a long history of joint exhibitions; many became celebrated events, attracting art enthusiasts from the Southwest. Their commitment to their craft and love for each other shone through in every brushstroke and chisel mark.
The Artist Journey continues with plans for Soiree #8 to be at a more prominent location. A wish upon a star for a ten-acre natural desert setting site with parking. A place showcasing the beauty of the natural desert and modern/urban space to experiment with well-curated pop-up events. A place where we can gather for food, fashion, music, and art. Join us for an Artist’s Journey and an invitation to a Soiree.

Sorry for the delayed response. I have been blogging for about 7 years but seriously for about 18 months. Thank you for noticing.
Hello!
Perhaps I haven’t kept up lately, but I am somewhat confused about how to find your art OR if there will even be any more. I especially am interested now in the religious/spiritual aspect of your creations. I do have one of your pieces that is not of that genre.
How do I follow you? I saw somewhere Prescott being mentioned, which is where I reside. Do you/will you have a new brand or name for your business? Where can we find you?
Perhaps you can just give me a quick response as to the plan ahead of you and your location.
Thank you. Jamie
Hi Jaime, Thank you for writing me. I am a (bit or alot) behind updating all most everything. The process of selling our studio/home and purchasing a new place in Prescott has kept me too busy. I am creating and writing about my latest work via Substack: https://larryortegatheobliqartist.substack.com/about
We should be in Prescott next week and I will start exploring having a show in Prescott.
I promise I will be updating everything very soon. Again thank you for reaching out it means a lot to me.
Larry, It’s Will Lowry from Sleepy Hollow. There is a fire in Carbon Canyon today and I went on the internet to learn more about it. I was on the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department (while going to grad school at USC Cinema). I was injured on the C.C. Fire in 1976 (50 years ago) I moved to the Bahamas for a year to recover and wrote and sailed and scuba dived. The water healed me. My internet journey made me think about you and Sandra. My wife and I try to go to Kawai each year when the Albatross return and I’ve tried to seek you out on Oahu to no avail. So glad to read you are still creating, and travelling a spiritual journey. I quit Hollywierd in 1988 after the Writer’s Guild Strike and l traded Laurel Canyon for Idyllwild where I have lived ever since. God Bless you and yours…
Hi Will,
We moved from Hawaii in 1980 to AZ. We lived in the Phoenix for 45 years before moving to Prescott, AZ. I too did some film work but mostly developed commercial real estate. Shoot me another message and add a photo. Lortega777@gmail.com Glad to reconnect after all these years.
